Diana Ross has been added to this year’s line-up for the 50th anniversary of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
Festival organizers said Friday that the legendary singer, who’s celebrating her 75th birthday this year, will make her first-ever appearance at the festival on Saturday, 4 May.
As lead singer of the Supremes, the group became one of the most successful groups of all time. Ross returns to New Orleans two years after she dazzled an Essence Music Festival audience with a set list of classics, including “Baby Love,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” and “I’m Coming Out.”
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival dropped its 2019 line-up on Tuesday, 15 January, including some of music’s biggest names across genres and eras. In addition to Diana Ross, The Rolling Stones top the event’s 50th anniversary billing, as part of their No Filter U.S. stadium run that starts in April, as well as Katy Perry, Dave Matthews Band, ‘Margaritaville’ rocker Jimmy Buffett and country star Chris Stapleton.
The two-weekend event runs from 25-28 April and 2-5 May at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans. The festival is the only tour date currently listed for Katy Perry, who shares the line-up with a number of iconic female musicians including Gladys Knight, Alanis Morrissette, Bonnie Raitt and Chaka Khan.
