A new range of contemporary clothing from leading fashion brand Carhartt WIP features imagery and style inspired by the music and artistry of Motown Records.

Available from November 14 in Carhartt WIP stores, at carhartt-wip.com and from select retailers worldwide, this 13-piece capsule collection includes a sateen bomber jacket and rolled beanie influenced by Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On look of the 1970s, and a t-shirt referencing the legendary Snake Pit recording studio in which classic Motown hits were made in Detroit.

A series of graphic t-shirts and hoodies pay tribute to other aspects of Motown’s history, from its various sub-labels to the 1970 album, A Pocket Full of Miracles, by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles. The collection is rounded off with a co-branded record weight and a “lollipop” style DJ headphone by Japanese manufacturer Phonon.

Carhartt WIP’s Motown partnership will be marked by a launch event November 13 at Detroit’s Museum of Contemporary Art, including a live performance by Martha Reeves & the Vandellas. In addition, the November edition of the Carhartt WIP radio show will see renowned DJ Moodyman playing his favorite Motown classics.
