The Jackson legacy starts here, from Gary, Indiana, to the world.
Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5 leverages the star power of Motown’s Queen to introduce a new generation of talent. The brothers’ debut album features “I Want You Back,” Motown’s first No. 1 of the 1970s, and the first of the group’s four consecutive chart-toppers. The track is crafted in Los Angeles by the Corporation, a songwriting/production team which includes Berry Gordy. After all, the Chairman has a big stake in the Jackson 5’s success.
The album also features tracks produced in Detroit by Bobby Taylor, the man credited with discovering the Jackson 5. Among them is their version of the Miracles’ “Who’s Lovin’ You,” a ballad so soulfully sung by Michael that it’s become a beacon of light for successive generation of singers and would-be hitmakers.
