Classic Motown fans on the East Coast are gaining new opportunities this spring to see some of their favorite artists in concert.
Valerie Simpson, half of the legendary songwriting/performing duo Ashford & Simpson, is scheduled to perform at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club in Maryland on March 22. This follows her recent nationwide tour with Dave Koz. Ashford & Simpson’s songs continue to receive worldwide exposure: four are featured in the current U.S. touring version of Motown The Musical, and in the U.K. production of the show now playing in London’s West End.
A Classic Motown superstar for whom Ashford & Simpson have written and produced hits, Diana Ross, has added new dates to her forthcoming New York schedule. She will be appearing at the New York City Center April 24, 25 and 26, and now also April 28 and29. The five-night engagement comes after Diana’s nine-night Las Vegas residency at The Venetian in February.
Meanwhile, Martha Reeves is due to play April dates in Immokalee, FL (13) and Pell City, AL (29) before returning to the U.K. for shows in England, Scotland and Wales during June.
