Stevie Wonder’s holiday classic, “What Christmas Means To Me,” was heard by millions of U.K. radio listeners Dec. 16 when visiting American superstar John Legend performed the song live on BBC Radio 2. Legend was a guest on popular personality Chris Evans’ morning show, singing the Wonder classic and tracks from his new album, Darkness and Light.

“What Christmas Means To Me” was recorded by Stevie in 1967 and included in his Someday At Christmas LP that year; it was also released as a single in 1971. The song is one of Motown’s most covered copyrights. For more about Stevie’s Christmas album, read here.

John Legend has long been an admirer of Motown and Wonder. He was a guest at the latter’s recent “House Full of Toys” benefit concert in Los Angeles, and in 2011, he sang at the White House during a student workshop event, “The Sound of Young America: The History of Motown,” hosted by Michelle Obama. In 2012, Legend performed Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On album – in its entirety and in sequence – at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. During the concert’s first half, he sang the biggest hits of Marvin and Tammi Terrell, duetting with the late Sharon Jones.
